Walt Disney’s Animated Landmark Scampers onto DVD on March 4, 2008 for a Limited Time Only

BURBANK, Calif., — The doggone original is back, and better than ever! Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment presents 101 Dalmatians: Platinum Edition, available on DVD on March 4, 2008. This prized 1961 animated feature — now fully restored with enhanced audio, video and howlingly fun bonus material — is ready to be loved by the 32 million first-time viewers born since its last release and the 97 million new DVD-owning households since then. Only available for a limited time, this two-DVD set is a must-have for families and collectors alike and is priced at just $00.00 SRP.

Canine fans who think they already own this release of 101 Dalmatians better take a second look at their entertainment libraries! They might have 101 Dalmatians II: Patch’s London Adventure or the 1996 live action version of 101 Dalmatians in their litter, but it’s been nearly 10 years since the original animated masterpiece has been available on DVD. One of the most sought-after Disney classics, this tale of newlywed pooches Pongo and Perdita and their diabolical nemesis Cruella De Vil has now been restored for the first time in history, enabling a whole new audience to enjoy one of the last films to bear the personal touch of legend Walt Disney himself. “101 Dalmatians was a groundbreaking animated film, and it’s exciting to finally have a beautifully restored version to share with home viewers,” says TK, TK of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. “But the biggest thrill for us is introducing this beloved classic to a whole new generation. Its timeless appeal is simply unsurpassed.” With 101 Dalmatians: Platinum Edition, this enduring landmark has been carefully restored to deliver technically advanced sound and video definition that will have fans young and old rolling over and begging for more.

And they’ll get more, with all new, never-before-seen bonus features. Kids will love the Virtual Dalmatians game where they can adopt, train, and care for a virtual puppy; newly unearthed songs deleted from the film; and a brand new recording and music video for the classic song “Cruella De Vil” performed by Selena Gomez. For collectors, there are new behind-the-scenes featurettes, film facts, and a look into the personal correspondence between Walt Disney and the author of the original “The One Hundred and One Dalmatians” book, Dodie Smith.

BONUS FEATURES

When Pongo and Perdita, a pair of adorable Dalmatians, play Cupid for their human pets, wedding bells ring! The dogs become the proud parents of 15 winsome puppies, but their happiness is short-lived. The wicked Cruella De Vil wants to buy the all puppies—to make a coat! When her dastardly offer is turned down, she orders her bumbling henchmen Horace and Jasper to abscond with the puppies as well as every other Dalmatian puppy in London. Pongo and Perdita must rally a network of animals across England to help find Cruella's secret hideaway and save the lives of 99 precious pups.
